Staff football team come second at stormy tournament

On Saturday 27 May, two teams of teaching and support staff from Bangkok Prep braved the torrential rain and made their way to compete in a mini tournament organised against the British School of Manila and Harrow Bangkok.

In treacherous conditions, with swimming being played almost as often as football, Bangkok Prep Grey team found some form, washing over the Manila team like a tsunami they emerged victorious 4-1.

They then followed this up with a win over the Bangkok Prep White team, who were bogged down. This left the final match against a combined Harrow Bangkok and Tollway Police team.

The Prep Grey team started slowly, the goals flowed for the opposition and before they knew it Prep were three goals down. With a resolute fight back, the tide was turned, big Jan Kellner brought the scores level at 3-3, only for Prep to lose it at the last.

On the other pitch in the plate final Prep White team were unlucky to lose on penalties after a tense 1-1 draw with Manila.

After a soaking day both Prep teams emerged with plenty to be happy about, Kellner finally made his mark on the big stage, while he was ably supported by the reliable Callow up front with the Irish Messi, Mr Pollock, pulling the strings behind.

On the White team K. Bird was solid as ever while Mr Jones made a confident debut on the big stage.
