RAK week encourages the importance of kindness

Report by Year 12 students Fern W. & Emmy K.

This week (19-23 June), Year 10 and Year 12 students are hosting ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ week. During this week, we will encourage students to be kind to one another to create a stronger relationship between students within the Secondary School.

Teaching students to be kind to one another without getting anything in return includes hosting a charity event, to understanding how a compliment or saying good morning can make someone’s day.

Moreover, students in Years 10 and 12 will be going around the school doing random acts of kindness throughout the whole week. Year 12 students are also going around in Years 7-10 classes to talk about the RUOK campaign – how a conversation could change a life.

The main mission is to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them and support anyone struggling with any problems they might have.

During this week, not only will we be kind to one another, but we must also acknowledge the charity organisations we work with outside of school.

We will be setting up a ‘milk carton’ and a ‘donations’ table in the Undercroft area, where we would like you to bring packs and cartons of milk, toiletries, books, clothing and so on, as donations for Asylum Access, a charity organisation that helps refugees and asylum seekers that the Sixth Form have worked closely with for the past year.
