Message from Head of School – Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Dear Parents

I hope you and your family are having an enjoyable and relaxing break during this half-term holiday.

As you know, the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues to evolve and with many of our community travelling for the half term, we will be taking the following additional steps as precautions:

  1. Anyone who has travelled to or had a connecting flight through China, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Macau are requested to self-quarantine for 2 weeks and should come back to school with a doctor’s letter of good health.
  2. Anyone who has travelled to or had a connecting flight through Japan or Singapore must seek a medical check-up from a reputable hospital or doctor before returning to school and present their note of good health to the class/form tutor. (If you need information on the hospitals, please see Appendix 1 below.)
  3. From Monday 24th February, we will check everyone’s temperature upon entering the school grounds. Any students with a temperature of 38°C or higher, or cold symptoms, will be requested to be taken home.
  4. We will conduct regular temperature checks throughout each day until further notice.
  5. Anyone’s temperature reaching 38°C or higher, or experiencing cold symptoms whilst in school, will be asked to return home or be collected.
  6. Parents are requested to only enter the school grounds if they have an official appointment or need to sign their children out. This should only be after having their temperature checked by school.
  7. EYFS parents will be permitted on the school grounds after having their temperature taken to ensure that students are following their usual routines and risk is minimised.
  8. If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them out of school until they are fully recovered.
  9. If your child is recommended to stay home by a doctor then please contact the class/form tutor so work can be set through Firefly.

As we all prepare to return to school, I’d like to remind everyone to be vigilant with keeping healthy habits such as thorough hand washing and other preventative measures to inhibit infection. To look at the full advice we have shared, please refer to my message on 14th February 2020.

Currently, we rely on the honesty of our parents to report visiting areas of high infection or being in contact with people who have recently been to these areas. I apologise for any inconvenience which these measures may cause, however, this is to ensure the health and wellbeing of the community and we appreciate your cooperation. Please be patient if there are some delays entering the campuses.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays and I am looking forward to seeing you all safe and well when our school opens again on Monday 24th February.

Best regards

Duncan Stonehouse

Head of School
