An Invitation from The Head of Primary Friday 15 March 2019

Dear All,

Another well planned and executed week in Primary and thanks to everyone involved! The team work we have all shown this year has been impressive and a pleasure to be part of. Thanks to Catherine Frisbie, Will Fearon and Dan O Sullivan for supporting Battle of the Bands last Saturday and well done to Matt Ferrier for Sunday’s Primary Swimathon. Well done, everyone!

I want to take this opportunity to say how wonderful I thought this year’s Book Week was and wanted to say that today was, easily, the best Book Character Parade, I have ever seen in my 20 years of teaching. Although, last week, I challenged parents to dress up, I was very impressed with how many parents found the time to support the parade. The sports hall was full to capacity!

A huge thanks to Ms Jess Youlton for organising this Year’s Book Week and introducing the concept of ‘Windows into Worlds’. What a great idea! I particularly found our staff impressive as to the effort and time invested in their book characters. I say staff, rather than teachers as we had characters join us from all the offices around the campus (as well as all the teachers). I would also like to mention Ms Trunchbull (Mrs Jayne Williams) our compare for the parade. Simply, amazing!

Our Parent Booking System goes live on Friday thanks to Martyn Chadderton who has ensured parents can easily book an appointment of their choice with the teacher they wish to speak to. Our Teacher Parent Meetings are on Tuesday 26 March (2.30 – 5.00pm) and Wednesday 27 March (2.30 – 5.00pm). I hope parents can find time to meet their teachers for an update as to their child’s progress and well-being.

I would like to personally thank the parents who attended this week’s Parent Forum’s with me. The Nursery and Reception parents have provided valuable feedback about our school alongside ideas on how to improve. Most importantly to me, they confirmed that our teachers are doing a wonderful job! My next Parent Forums are Tuesday 19 March with Year 1 (at 8.00-9.30AM) and Year 2 (at 13:00-14:30) in Room 215. I hope to see as many of you there as possible. These Forum’s prove essential to the ongoing, improving communication channels from parents to the school and vice-versa!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Best wishes
