Letter from the Head of Secondary – 26 May 2017

By Head of Secondary Nigel Wilsonlock

Our FOBISIA Orchestra returned full of enthusiasm on Sunday, so much so that Mrs Kellner has already planned the next trip to Kathmandu for the FOBISIA Choir Festival.

Places will be limited to 15 students only, so please get your applications in early. I cannot wait to hear them in our new Auditorium at T77.

Next week is a big one for the school as we celebrate the graduation of our 33 graduates on Tuesday with a very special guest speaker! KS3 students will also be very focused in their KS3 Assessment Week.

The week is punctuated with mindfulness and revision strategies so that students can get used to the rigours of undertaking many assessments in a short space of time, so that they will be ready for the May/June exam season they will first face with IGCSEs in Y11. It’s all about preparation.

The results from these assessments add to our understanding of student performances so that teachers can better support students with effective feedback.

As we plan to move to T77 there will be a lot of information to be shared about changes in some routines and, in particular, transport. Please keep a note of the dates shared yesterday in the letter from our Chairman and contact the Main Office to register your interest in attending upcoming meetings.

May has been our ‘community minded’ month and we will be moving into ‘resourceful’ for June, something staff are becoming very good at as we finalise our plans for the move to T77.

Staff will be undertaking the bulk of classroom packing in the three days after the end of term, which for Secondary is 12pm on Tuesday 27th June.
